TPP

Since 1981, TSPI has focused its products and services to supporting the small and micro enterprise sectors. As TSPI increases its outreach and geographic spread in rural areas, it has received increasing demand for microfinance services from small farmers. This new product was thus conceived to respond to the needs of the target group – small farmers – being one of the identified poverty groups in the Philippines.

The TPP is intended to finance the rice production requirements, which include labor during land preparation / plating / weeding; inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation; and premium payment for crop insurance.

The TPP caters to:
• Male or female farmers who are between 20 to 60 years old;
• Land owners or tenants with minimum of 5 years farming experience;
• Have access to irrigation;
• Practices at least 2 rice cropping a year;
• Minimum landholding of 1 hectare and maximum of 5 hectares; and
• Must have other source of income that is non-agricultural based.

In addition to financing, the program will facilitate the delivery of technical assistance to farmers, in relation to the current advances made in agriculture, to increase their yield and maximize the potential of their farms.
